Maglia Nera: our concept café
In 2019, we decided to expand our business by following our passion to create something different — and truly unique.
A place where smiles come naturally. A place brought to life within one of the oldest buildings in Quartu Sant’Elena, lovingly restored to its original charm through careful conservation. A place where every detail has been shaped by passion. A place you simply can’t rush through — even if the common thread is a bicycle. This place is the Maglia Nera Café.
We thought: let’s call it Maglia Nera. Italian for Black Jersey.
The Maglia Nera of the Giro d’Italia was an ironic and fascinating symbol: it was awarded to the last rider in the standings — not for lack of effort, but for grit, cunning, and a rebellious spirit. Some riders chased it on purpose, with clever strategies and a touch of theatrics, turning “being last” into a statement of character and humanity.
We like to think that this spirit lives on today in our Maglia Nera Café: a place where it’s not about rushing, but about stopping. An invitation to slow down, enjoy a breakfast, a light lunch, or an aperitivo, and share in the pleasure of taking it easy.
Because sometimes, by falling behind, you discover what’s most genuine.
For Sardinia Cycling it's a new, exciting, and complex challenge — but also a wonderful opportunity to express who we are and our vision of what a cycle café should be: a place that welcomes everyone, cyclists and non-cyclists alike. Or perhaps future cyclists, as we like to think.
We’re waiting for you!
