E-Bike Tours on Sardinia

E-biking on Sardinia, the key to new discovers.

E-bikes have made Sardinia - a region once fit-riders-friendly - the paradise a much wider number of riders

We love guiding group tours, talking about the places we visit, answering your questions with local insight, and fostering a magical group experience. We worry about safety and logistics so you can focus on the riding experience. We do all this to ensure that at the end of your trip rather than saying "goodbye," you say "see you again soon."

We have little guided dates available. That's because we operate all of our trips and you'll be 99% of the times in touch with a tour designer or a tour consultant that will later be your tour guide in Sardinia. You'll know your guide before the trip and - most important - we'll know you before we meet in person. We think this is a wonderful idea, don't you?

With the same approach we arrange self guided tour. Plus, if you go for a self guided tour, you can take advantage of the luggage delivery service and even share its cost with other travelers.

We've designed new tours or done all the necessary alterations to our classic ones in order to make them work great for e-bikes. Plus we are offering guided group tours upon request, available for virtually any date.

Last but not least, we cover the e-bike branch in our usual professional way and offer a fleet of amazing e-bikes from Canyon - either e-road or touring - that will make for a smooth and fun experience.

The Sardinia Cycling app for iOS and Android

Discover a new, paper-free way to handle your trip information.
Since our inception our goal’s been getting more people riding on our cycling paradise, doing it in the smoothest way, and therefore having the best fun, safely. Sardinia Cycling has purpose built our app in order to help you make the most of your time exploring the island by bike.

Luggage delivery

Sardinia Cycling offers a punctual and reliable luggage delivery service.  The price of the service is listed in each of the tour description pages. But by selecting the same dates for your adventure as other guests you can split the cost of the luggage transfer, which would make the costs very affordable.

Activity levels

This is the level of choice if you occasionally enjoy a bike ride and you want to match biking and visits. The tours in this category need you just  prepare with some training prior to tour  Average distance of tours in this category is 60 kilometers/day and 1000m/day gain in elevation.

Enthusiast level cover longer distances and add some more spikes in the elevation charts  and more time in the saddle. Ideal for you who ride more than occasionally and are not afraid of some tough climbing. Average distance is 70km and average daily elevation up to 1500m.

You ride quite often and you're in search of challenging cycling, including some good meters up. Distances are above 90km and average elevation above 1600m/day. The lower limit might look low, but remember that hot weather and (often) wind make a tough ride tougher.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's your usual support level on guided tours?

We have a strict rule since from the very beginning of our adventure: a six to one ratio, which means a riding guide every each 6 riders. Plus, a van that can keep about half riders. The van contains a mobile workshop, spare wheels, spare bikes (the number is chosen depending on the required sizes). We provide a quick lunch on the go (sandwiches, pies, juices, fruit) as well as bevareages. We have gels bars and electrolyes available on purchase. The van is constantly connected to the guide(s).

How do I prepare myself?

Our tours are suited to riders of different capabilities and fitness. For every trip you'll find the estimated fitness level (Recreational, Enthusiast, Challenge). Should you have doubt in the interpretation of that when selecting a tour, the best thing to do is getting in touch with our very experienced staff who'll be happy to help you assess if the tour you've in mind is suitable for you. As an approach, we do not sell a tour if we're not sure you won't enjoy it.

Where do your clients come from?

Many guests find it hilarious, but less than 1% of our guests are from Italy and despite we're proudly Italians, we mostly speak English at work. Our guests are mostly from the US, Canada, Australia, UK and Switzerland. We pride to have a huge repeaters' rate.

How long have you guys been doing this?

Italy-Cycling is not new. Is instead the Italian branch of the head company based in Sardinia and called SardiniaCycling. The head company has started as a family business and it still is, even a pretty evolved one. We’re not afraid to say that we became - through hard work and passion - a leading cycling tour company in Italy. Since 2008 we specialize in arranging unforgettable cycling tours and holidays, accommodating cyclists from all around the world in our paradise island.

Do your guides speak English?

Of course they do. Depending on guest's nationality, on the Country touched by the itinerary as well as on the specific trip level, we choose guides that beside English can speak other languages, like French or German.

Do you offer self-guided tours?

Of course we do. Most tours in our catalog have a self-guided variant. Self-guided tours depart anytime in the season and have a specific pricing that is indicated in the travel page. Services related to guided and self guided tours are listed in all the tour description pages.

What do I get if I reserve a self-guided tour?

Guests on our self-guided tours get an extensive information pack, detailed maps, road book and a GPS with loaded tracks. While on site, we arrange a briefing and we fit the bikes. Our staff are always available to help you wherever and at any time. Our network of offices allows prompt response and immediate action from our own skilled staff. So far, none of our guests have lost a single day of their tour. And its up to us to see that they never will.

Do you offer luggage transfer on your self-guided tours? How does it work?

Yes, sure. And it works in a very smooth way. You'll be asked to leave your labeled bags at the hotel reception every morning by 9.30 am. You'll find bags at the next hotel before 2 pm.

Self Guided tour on Sardinia

What a great tour put together by the team at Sardinia Cycling. Australia is a long way from Sardinia - but it was worth the trip! The accommodation and food put together for the tour was fantastic. The logistics worked perfectly with luggage magically appearing...

I have been doing cycling tours for almost 20 years in Europe. This is our first trip using a professional company and we could not be happier with the service, bikes, routes and overall trip. Hotels were good to very good overall. Food was excellent. Bikes were high end Canyon, many of which had Di2 electronic shifting.

  • We rode the West Coast Sardina Tour from Alghero to Pula May 2023. This was an exceptional trip. I rented a Canyon Road bike, not electric, than had Shimano Ultrega mechanical parts. The bike was great, and worked flawlessly. My wife Paula rented a Canyon road e-bike. It worked great but was not the right bike for her (more about that later). On a couple of rides she got down to one "bar" on power but never ran out. One woman ran out of power on the 6th day of riding for the last few flat miles. 7/10 of our riders were on e-bikes. First off our riding Guide Marco was excellent. Marco was encouraging, and funny.Led us in a nice, fun exercise session to warm up every day. Knew the area. Never was lost. Was very safety-minded. And he knew a lot about the history of the area and took us to special places of historical importance. In addition he has made good contacts in the region and arranged an Aquavit (Grappa like liquor) tasting in the basement of a friend who makes Aquavit. Also a tour of a knife making factory where we met the owner (4th generation) and had another impromptu Grappa session. A basket weaving observation morning with a woman who is the last in her community with these skills. All Fun. Knives and Grappa....What could go wrong?!. The accommodations were all wonderful. After the third day of riding we could schedule and get wonderful massages in the town of Cabras. DO DO THAT!. Food along the way was excellent. Lots of seafood options. Mussels are amazing! Our second guide Sara drove the van, and schlepped our luggage, and met us at remote intersections and pointed the correct way. She was an incredible bright light the whole trip. Helpful in an infinite number of ways. If you go on this trip ask for Marco and Sara. You can not go wrong. I guarantee that! Accommodations were all excellent. All Clean. Some with small refrigerators. All breakfasts were provided. Lunch and snacks were generally purchased en route. Three dinners were provided. Two were excellent and one very good. The first involved a very dedicated wine sommelier who taught us a lot about the local wines. The nights we went out on our own , we were provided with lots of good options. We did have one disappointment, that being the restaurant in the hotel in Bosa the second night. SO SLOW. But every other restaurant, everywhere else was fantastic. Rides were about 25-54 miles each day. The biggest elevation day was a vertical of 4000'. Four other days were around 2500-3000 feet vertical Four days were quite hilly, two were very flat, and one moderately hilly. Steepest inclines were small stretches or 12% but most hills 5-6%. Only issue for us was in large part my fault. I gave Simona at the office my measurements for my non-electric road bike and I was very specific for me, but I said for my wife simply "She wants an e-bike". I was not asked specifics about that. I should have pursued the specifics. You must review the bike rental page and study it carefully and be explicit about what you want. There are road e-bikes, mountain-bikes, and an upright handlebar utility type e-bike. My wife rides the latter at home, but got the drop bar road e-bike for this trip which was quite uncomfortable for her. Her neck and shoulders, and wrists were not used to the drop bar body position. The office should make sure everyone who orders a bike is ordering exactly the one they want. I hope to do this same trip again with couples, and to also book a longer and steeper trip different Sardinia trip with more hard-core bikers. GREAT TRIP. GREAT Guides. Oh, and the scenery. Fantastic. I have done group guided rides now on the Sardinia West Coast, the Croatian Dalmation Coast, and the Italy Lake Maggiore and Lake Como Region. This was my favorite trip BY FAR when considering Guides, scenery, food, hotels, and cost. And the weather. Perfect for six days, a little rain on the seventh. You can't go wrong on this trip. • Amazing service, top quality Canyon bikes of every type. Not to mention the kindness of the owner. He opened the store for us on a national holiday. Thanks and best regards!
  • We did a private MTB tour with Andrea to experience the hills above Cagliari - one of the best experiences of our holiday. We are also hiring road bikes from the Baia Sardinia base - such a good way to see the island. Great gear, great people - grazie mille for having us!
